Marissa Brody’s softball journey began at the ag

Marissa Brody’s softball journey began at the age of 4, alongside her older sister Kaden, on the PGSA Barbie Bicycles Tball team. Over the course of 10 years, she progressed through PGSA, from Tball to Majors.

Additionally, she played Steal Breeze from U8 to U14, and in her final season played on the “2021 Western National B Championship” Team.

Marissa’s involvement in softball extended beyond playing; she has been umpiring for PGSA since she was 13. As a senior at Casa Grande High School, she has showcased her versatility as a multi-sport varsity student-athlete, participating in tennis, volleyball, basketball, and softball, all while maintaining an impressive 4.5 GPA.

Looking ahead, Marissa has committed to continuing her academic and softball pursuits at Cal Poly Humboldt as a Lumberjack, beginning in Fall 2024. @marissa.brody

Ok you guys… we have a pretty cool one here. Photo one is Coach Phil’s team in 2023 and Photo 2 is Coach Phil’s team in 1996… but it doesn’t stop there. Phil’s Daughter, is on the 1996 team and his granddaughter was on the 2023 team. But wait… pictured on the McDonalds team is Kayla, who assistant coached the Druids and her daughter Tenley on the team. And Kelly Verke on McDonalds and daughter Savannah on the druids. If you have registered your player and are wondering what to do now, read below:

*T-Ball & Minis* you are just waiting to hear from your players coach. Your player will be placed on a team and your coach will be reaching out. While you’re waiting, you can start to collect the items you will need for the season. There is a great resource on our website under parent tools > equipment and uniform. (https://petalumasoftball.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Equipment-Gear.pdf)

* Challenge-Ups* If you are looking to challenge your player up to an older division, challenge up sign-up are due by tomorrow. If you do not sign up, your player cannot challenge up. Challenge ups are reserved for advanced players, and is not the right move for most kids. Please read the challenge of guidelines on our website. Under parent tools > challenge up requirements. (https://petalumasoftball.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2024-CHALLENGE-UPS-1.pdf)

*Rookies, Minors & Majors* If you are not challenging up, your player still needs to come to evaluations. Evaluations will be on the weekend of February 3rd. More specific information will come out as we get closer to that date.

❤️ One of the biggest questions we keep getting from every parent is “what division is my player in??”
💙 But luckily we have an easy way to figure it out!
🤍 Go to the “challenge up form” on our website (under parent info). There is an easy to read chart. Plug in your players birthday and you can see what division they are in.
❤️Read the “challenge up requirements” first, if you would like to consider your player for challenge ups.
💙 “challenge up” sign ups close the 19th, so don’t wait

If you are interested in challenging your player up to a higher age division, please read the guidelines on the website. (Petalumasoftball.com UNDER: Parent Info) You will need to sign up your player for challenge ups. This must be done EVEN IF you marked challenge up at the time of registration. Deadline to sign up is January 19, 2024. If your player is NOT signed up through this link, she will NOT be eligible to challenge up for this season!! Here is the link to register:

We hope you can make it out tomorrow for the umpire clinic. Note the new day and time for next week! Both dates will be held at the Santa Rosa Junior College softball field. Pre-registration is not required. Only one session needs to be attended (even if they have umpired before, they must attend) and each attendee must be 13 years of age or older
